Welcome TechStart Spring Conference Participants

I thought I should say hello to my fellow CS, web design, & other various and sundry technology teachers at the Techstart & OCSTA Spring Conference. I have spared no expense to bring you the latest in open and free tools for use in the classroom and doing what we do. I just wish our students appreciated how cool things are with the advances in open-source technology like we do.

Can you remember life before the World Wide Web? I remember trying to learn how to program games. Of course, this was when Defender was the latest video game. The movie Tron had recently came out, and…I digress. I’m seriously dating myself.

My point is that we’ve got the best gadgets, and they’re all free! W00t!

Note: Last week, I titled the blog entry, “The Life and Death of Jeremy Bentham,” but I was in error. This week’s episode is the one titled, “The Life and Death of Jeremy Bentham.” I know this because in all of the preview scenes they all had Locke (aka Jeremy Bentham) or they were talking about Locke (aka Jeremy Bentham), or they showed Locke about to take his life.

Tune in on Wednesday at 9:00 pm to see the events that lead up to Locke’s self-sacrifice for the island. Let’s see if Locke is so cavalier about the sacrifice that the island demands in this episode(remember what he said about Boone’s death).

The title I wrote for last night’s LOST episode was apparently wrong. The Life and Death of Jeremy Bentham was really titled 316, which was the flight number the Oceanic 5 took (we learned in the show), and it was an allusion to John 3:16 (“For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”).

I’ve fired my research team, and I’ll never trust the internet again. At least for the next few days anyway.
